NESCAFE AND MILO
Once upon a time, I had the chance to go to Baguio City for the TURD Talks together with my co-learners and mentor. It was my first time to be in Baguio and I was so excited because FINALLY I would feel the I-<3-Baguio-feels. Alam kong malamig don so, I would have enough reasons to wear stockings, I would have enough reasons para hindi maligo ng ilang araw kasi hindi naman ako pagpapawisan sa sobrang lamig. lol
We finally came to the University of the Cordilleras (UC) around 3 AM. Kinaylangan muna naming ayusin ang mga gamit namin bago kami makapag-pahinga, pero actually, pagkatapos namin mag-ayos ng gamit ay wala na kaming oras para magpahinga dahil we need to practice pa yung mga talks namin...KAYA RAK!
Around 6AM, this woman came to our room. She was wearing this long, brown, leather jacket and blue scarf around her neck. Matangkad sya and she walked, talked, dressed with sophistication.
But, she was very nice to us and she gave us a freezing tour around UC. The faculty was very nice as well..
There were fried daing na bangus, fried rice, adobo, etc. For our drinks, merong Nescafe.
Patay...walang panulak, man.
Nagsimula kami kumain.
She gently touched my right hand, "O, kape! Don't you drink coffee?" tanong nya sakin na medyo nagulat.
"Hindi po eh," sagot ko.
"Bakit di mo sinabi?"
"Sumasaki--"
"What do you like?" she interrupted.
That's why, you know, students I know from UP (malapit-lapit lang kasi ang UP Baguio sa UC), they are outspoken. Marunong silang mag-salita, but many people see it as what?" there was a pause, "Kabastusan. But it's not. It is, kung ano sila eh, it's authenticity. Kaya next time, magsasalita ka ha..."
All the while that she was talking, I was just staring and listening at her.
I realized, I love her.
Pero, seriously, I'm glad to hear that from a professor and that experience between Nescafe and Milo taught me that it's normal for people to say you're being rude or even hate you when your being real -you just can't please everybody, but you just gotta say what you feel and keep it 100% real. Ghaaad, I'll never forget her...and that Nescafe Classic...and of course, that Milo.
